Hobbies

Hi, I’m Magnus, and this is my own little corner of the internet. I am an information security professional with a broad technical background and a passion for solving complex problems.

Outside of work, I channel my curiosity and creativity into personal projects and hobbies. You’ll often find me hiking in the Norwegian woods and mountains, capturing the beauty of nature with one of my analog cameras or other creative stuff. These activities recharge me and inspire fresh perspectives that I bring to my professional work.

I really enjoy photography, especially film and analog cameras. I enjoy experimenting with different styles, from landscapes to street photography, always looking to capture unique moments. Exploring new gear, and learning new techniques keep me inspired on this creative journey.

I value versatility—stepping outside my comfort zone, learning something entirely new, and finding practical ways to solve problems. Whether it’s addressing complex security challenges, learning analog photography, or mastering a new technology, I thrive on pushing my limits and seizing opportunities to grow. Working alongside skilled professionals and continuously learning is something I deeply value, and I actively seek environments that foster this development.

Professional Journey

My career has been shaped by a combination of technical expertise, understanding of how businesses operate and understanding of risk. This blend enables me to bridge the gap between technical solutions and organizational needs, creating effective outcomes that align with broader goals.

Over the years, I’ve developed experience in penetration testing, threat modeling, and risk assessments, with a strong understanding of technology’s foundational workings. My work includes testing and securing a wide range of systems, such as web and mobile applications, internal networks, cloud platforms, and more. This has enhanced my ability to approach challenges with both technical depth and strategic insight, aligning technology with broader organizational needs.

A key aspect of my professional growth has been the curiosity and analytical mindset that drives me to understand not just how systems work but how to make them work better and in a secure manner. I’m continuously seeking ways to improve my skills, the teams I collaborate with, and the systems I work with.

Education

Why this website then?

I’ve wanted to share my work and hobbies for quite some time. I really appreciate when others do the same—every now and then, you stumble across a truly interesting and useful blog, free from intrusive ads, just packed with good content. I hope to create something like that myself over time. I had a clear idea of what I wanted this website to be: a simple, functional notebook where I can document my experiences. So, I set out to build exactly that—a clean and minimal site that works well across different devices, without relying on a CMS. Creating this website has been a different challenge from what I usually work on, but it's been a rewarding process. More than anything, it's a reminder that with enough effort and curiosity, I can bring my ideas to life.
